Since the last time Kelvin or I blogged, just a few things have happened (sadly I have hardly any pictures of any of them).

1. We both had birthdays, Kelvin turned 25 and I turned 21 (whoo! Not like it makes a difference for a Mormon girl)

Kelvin’s birthday is Halloween, and we did something almost every night that week. We had dinner with his older brother’s family; our good friends Shaun and Kim took us out to Texas roadhouse (I was the only one who had never been before, it was delicious!) We were supposed to go to a pumpkin patch with our friend Brent Redd but he ended up not feeling that well, so we just visited with him after watching Modern Family. Lastly, I took Kelvin on a date to his one of his favorite restaurants Brick Oven (pizza and very similar pizza-like food, like Calzones). The gift I got him was a very nice NAS.

For my birthday we watched Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1, in theaters pretty early in the morning, we came home and I crafted a bit, then we went to Tucano’s with 7 of our good friends (I like big birthdays). It was a wonderful day and I got a lot of great gifts from my family and friends. Kelvin got me a camera bag, rolling pin, and a Christmas tree topper; my sister gave me a new camera strap; my parents sent gift cards to two of my favorite places: Michael’s and In-N-Out; my brother and sister-in-law sent H&M accessories, old pictures, and cute red box. It also snowed for the first time that night I’m definitely OK with the first snowfall being after my birthday.

2. I took a one-day photography class in SLC from Nicole Hill

My old roommate Alicia and I drove to Salt Lake to take a two-hour class from Nichole Hill. I had such a good time I think I learned more in those two hours than I did in an entire semester at UVU. I was planning to go to NYC with my sister to see our brother and his wife but when that fell through Kelvin said I could take the class instead. I think he was trying to cheer me up, but it was good nevertheless.

3. We both started watching our own TV shows (Kel) Twin Peaks (Me) and Friday Night Lights.
Right now Kelvin is almost done (halfway through the second of two seasons) and I still have the 5th season to watch. We had just finished watching Pushing Daisies together when Kelvin wanted to watch Battlestar Galactica (uh no thanks) so I looked to see what else I could stream from Netflix. I only watched about 5 minutes of Nip/Tuck when I saw someone’s rear, so I decided to try Friday Night Lights instead. I hadn’t heard many things about it except that it was about football… I gave it a try and was hooked from the beginning.

4. I finished the first book in the Hunger Games series LOVED IT.

That’s all I really have to say about the book.

5.  Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving was small this year. We stayed in Utah with Kelvin’s mom and his youngest brother, Conner. We had a small traditional dinner with pie for dessert. I think I was the only one who didn’t nap after we ate. The only other thing we did, besides eat, was wrote what we were thankful for on some leaves that I had printed at work then we glued them onto little printed trees. Kelvin wrote ridiculous things like wood, metal, and horses.

PS I think Thanksgiving should be on Friday because going back to work the next day is pretty much torture.

6. Thanksgiving break

This is separate from Thanksgiving because we spent time with our friends and also friends from Vegas, I’m just going to redirect you the Mertinso blog to read about it, we didn’t come in till part 2 and here’s part 3.

7. I got bangs

Straight across bangs, it took a good two hours for a trim but that wasn’t so bad after the last time I was there for 4 1/2 hours and turned my hair fire engine red. I was doing my hair the next morning when I realized my bangs were crooked…grrrrreat. I went back the next day and waited 30 minutes for someone to fix my bangs, I ended up just leaving because we were going to the temple that night.  I’m pretty sure I’ve sworn off hair schools.

8. Kelvin had his last final ever on Thursday.

I’m so proud of him, plus no more homework! Which means more time with me.

9. We bought the rights to our wedding pictures!

Meaning we can now print them whenever, wherever, without having to go through our photographer. Merry Christmas to us.

10. Christmas Parties

Kelvin had a work party for MoneyDesktop this Friday then we went to one for Wiltec on Saturday (Wiltec is the place he used to work for his dad). One thing I’ve definitely like about being a grown up is Christmas parties.

11. I actually found Christmas music I like, surprisingly, and it’s free.

We’ll have more updates about our exciting adventures soon!
